American Apparel Fires “Hundreds”
Apparently, American Apparel has let go of “hundreds” of employees. Is it because of the economy? Their spokesperson says no. It’s because they recently upgraded their machines, which “boosted productivity” while making a good portion of human labor obsolete. The Los Angeles Times has the story.

Chrysler Closes Down All Factories
Chrysler will stop operating all their manufacturing plants for at least a month, starting tomorrow. They need to slow down production to “match” their decreased sales. As in, they are running out of cash, and can’t afford to keep their business running. It’s basically a drastic move to fend of bankruptcy.
