Our comrades at Stuff Unemployed People Like really hit the nail on the head with their #26 entry “Public Libraries.”
Personally, I’ve been going there all the time now, especially since I figured out you can reserve books online and they email you when they are ready to be picked up! The brilliance!
This works particularly well for me since I recently joined a book club a few months back (though I am the only person that actually “rents” them from the library, they all have jobs and have the luxury of buying fresh copies).
And like SUPL said, don’t forget that hand sanitizer! One time I was there just browsing through the aisles and saw this gigantic bug crawling on the books! Yummy!
UPDATE: One of our readers sent me a link today for BookCrossing, which is kind of like the library but you don’t have to go and see all the weirdos/loud kiddies lurking around! Thank you friend!

I tried it yesterday and brought my Kindle 2. Had the thought that once all the books there are digitized, we might use the building for a homeless shelter. Couldn’t stay long though as I kept getting distracted by the high school kids making out behind the stacks.

oh yeah, you can’t go between like 2:30-4pm cause that’s when all the ghetto kids loiter around after school hooting and hollering while on their myspace pages!
