The people over at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services realize that this recession/GD 2.0/being unemployed thing sucks, so they’ve published an online guide titled “Getting Through Tough Economic Times.” They list possible risks (depression and substance abuse), warning signs (like increased drinking and/or crying), and tell you ways you can manage your stress and get help.
I have personally been through all of these things since being unemployed and am happy to say that I’m getting help at a low-cost counseling program. The emotions we go through being are painful, confusing and tough, but we don’t have to do it alone. Get help if you are going through any of the warning signs, there are many organizations out there who are happy to help you.
