29keller-190-copyPolitico reports that The New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller spoke at an event yesterday in Stanford, Connecticut, and said, “Saving The New York Times now ranks with saving Darfur as a high-minded cause.”

Wait a second here.

Comparing a news conglomerate that A) recently built itself a brand new skyscraper and B) the average reporter makes $90,000 per year to the mass genocide of innocent people in Darfur????

What??? Seriously he needs a little dose of reality. I know that there are many people at risk of losing their jobs at The Times, and I feel terrible for them, but that cannot even remotely compare to one of the worst humanitarian conflicts since WWII!
